Advanced Strings (VIOLIN, VIOLA, CELLO WELCOME)
This group focuses on advanced chamber music repertoire. The course aims to teach interpretation, style of performance as well as collaboration.
Our beginner violin lessons are designed for students with little to no violin experience and who want to learn the basics of violin strings and bowing.
Intermediate violin lessons are offered to those students who have already been practicing the violin for several years and want to improve their skills.
Our advanced violin lessons are for highly skilled violinists wishing to refine their technique or who plan to audition for music schools and competitions.
Educated in Europe and in the United States, violinist Magdalena Garbalinska made her New York orchestral debut at DiMenna Center for the Performing Arts, as a soloist for the New York Classical Guitar Society concert series.
The performance featured J. S. Bach’s Violin Concerti, with guitar orchestra taking the role of the harpsichord. Competing on her home turf in New York City, Magdalena Garbalinska won Best Technique Award at the Forte International Competition held at Carnegie Hall in 2016. Her other noteworthy engagements include regular appearances at the Summer Music Festival at Western Michigan University, where she has performed concertos with orchestra in addition to being featured in recitals of violin solo and chamber music works, since 2014.
Furthermore, Ms. Garbalinska was invited to a number of music festivals, both in the U.S. and in Europe. She performed at the Sarasota Chamber Music Festival, Bowdoin International Festival and Encore, where she was presented with the Starling Foundation Award. In Europe she appeared at the Kuhmo Festival in Finland as well as in Lehrte, Germany and also in Gdansk, Kozlowka and Lancut festivals in her native Poland. She was a special prize winner during the Gdansk Spring Music Festival, held by noted violinist, Prof. Krzysztof Wegrzyn. Magdalena Garbalinska also received the Arthur Balsam Award in recognition of her contributions as a chamber musician.
After completing her elementary education in Gdansk, Magdalena Garbalinska went on to study in Warsaw and in the United States. She holds master’s degrees from the F. Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City.
A devoted and experienced educator, Ms. Garbalinska has taught private lessons, group classes and ensembles since 2007. Formerly a teaching assistant at Western Michigan University, she has been coaching string ensebles and teaching private violin lessons at the university's summer music program since 2014. Ms. Garbalinska also taught violin classes in NYC public schools as a teaching artist for an outreach music program. For over 10 years, she has coached and conducted an ensemble, which welcomes adult, non-professional string players of all levels. She successfully prepared her students for auditions, exams and violin competitions.
